1.3 install the eclipse integrated development environment
The eclipse integrated development environment provides an integrated environment for editing, compiling, and running Java Web applications and provides many conveniences for programmers. The latest version of eclipse is 3.5. This book uses eclipse

1.3.1 download eclipse 3.5
Choose eclipse from the page on the official eclipse website http://www.eclipse.org/downloads /#
IDE for Java EE developers "downloads eclipse 3.5 and places it in any directory. Eclipse is a zip package.
1.3.2 install eclipse 3.5
As eclipse is a zip package, use WinRAR to decompress it to any directory. This book will decompress eclipse to the "D: \ usingtools \ Eclipse" directory to complete eclipse installation.
1.3.3 start eclipse 3.5
Go to the eclipse installation directory through windows resource manager. In this book, go to the "D: \ usingtools \ Eclipse" directory, as shown in figure 1-13:

Double-click eclipse.exe to run eclipse. The interface 1-14 is displayed:

Then, the page shown in 1-15 is displayed:

On the page from figure 1-15, in the "workspace" input box, enter, select, or create a directory as the eclipse workspace. This book creates a new directory named "D: \ javaweb is used as the eclipse work zone. Click "OK". Eclipse loads necessary components. After the components are created, the interface shown in Figure 1-16 is displayed:

It indicates that eclipse has been properly installed and started. On the interface 1-16, close the "welcome" tab to enter the integrated development environment of Eclipse, as shown in figure 1-17:

So far, eclipse has been installed successfully. Now, close eclipse first.
Next, install the mysql5.0 database server.
