1. DownloadGrub4DosDecompress the package to the C root of XP.

2. Modify the boot. ini file of XP (this file is a system file and has the read-only hidden attribute)
Add the following at the end of boot. ini:
C: \ grldr = "GRUB"
3. Download the Ubuntu 9.04 Ubuntu topcd image file. There is a link here, which one you like to choose (http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2009-04/19602.htm)
Place the downloaded image file directly in C:, compress the. disk folder to C:, and decompress the initrd.gz and vmlinuz files under the casper to C:
4. restart the computer, select Grub, enter the Grub boot program, select the last item (Install ubuntu), and then enter ubuntu.
In liveCD mode, open a terminal and enter:
Sudo umount-l/iosdevice
Press enter. Click the installation icon on the desktop to complete the installation process.
Note that the default file system format of Ubuntu 9.04 is ext3, rather than ext4. When Partitioning in the format, pay attention to the selection.
