How to mount a Windows partition and USB drive under Linux system

My machine also has Windows and Linux operating systems, and Linux does not normally support Windows ' partition format. And the most of our personal users are often Windows systems, in learning to avoid between the two systems to exchange files. Fortunately, the Linux system provides a mount command that can be used to mount partitions under Windows. To do this, we can use this command to mount a partition of Windows under Linux to enable file exchange between the two systems. (Note that the current Linux system does not seem to support the NTFS partition format too well, so it's best to use FAT32 partition format.) This example takes the FAT32 format as an example)

1. Log in to Linux as root user.

2. Enter the MNT directory, create a new folder (for loading the Windows partition to be mounted below), such as: Windisk the command to create the folder is as follows: Mkdir/mnt/windisk.

3. Execute Mount command mount-t vfat/dev/hda5/mnt/windisk

* Note: "Hda5" in the command, the number 5 represents the partition number on your hard drive, in general, the first disk of the primary partition is numbered 1, and the second disk is numbered 2, which means that the C disk can be expressed as: hda1, if your primary partition is more than one C disk, then the rest of the partitions and so on. The first disk of the logical partition is numbered 5 that is, the D disk can be expressed as: the Hda5,e disk can be expressed as: Had6, the rest and so on.

4. If the command does not carry out the error message, you should now have access to the partitions under your Windows system under your Linux. Execute command: Cd/mnt/windisk carriage return, and then execute command LS return. See if the files under Windows are already listed.

The way to mount U disk is the same as the above procedure. The only difference is to change the hda5 of the third step above to sda1. The reason is that Linux treats the external disk devices as scics devices.
