The AirDrop feature in the Mac makes it easy for you to wirelessly send files from your Mac to people around you who use iOS devices to share photos, videos, locations, and more. So how do Apple devices share files and send files through airdrop?
And you don't have to connect to the same network to transfer files, and your device will automatically set up a direct wireless connection for AirDrop. AirDrop can be found from the Finder, the Share menu, or in the open and save Windows. When you select AirDrop in Yosemite, your Mac will look for devices that can also use AirDrop nearby. Let's see how it's done!
Send a file
You can use AirDrop to send files from the Finder on your Mac to other nearby devices and Mac computers.
1. In the Finder, select "Go to->airdrop" or select "AirDrop" in the sidebar of the Finder window.
2. Drag and drop one or more files onto the image of the device you want to send the file to, which is displayed in the AirDrop window.
3, click "Send".
If you do not see a receive device in the AirDrop window, make sure that the recipient is set to get the file through AirDrop.
Receiving files
If you send a file to a device that uses your ICloud account, the device automatically receives the file. If you send a file to someone else, the recipient needs to "accept" the transfer file to download the content you sent.
Click Save on the Mac on the receiving file to store the received files in the Downloads folder.
To receive files on your iPhone, iPad, or ipod touch, press "accept" when you see the AIRDROP notification.
To view the files you have received, open the app that applies to that file type. For example, you can view text processing documents in Pages and view images in photos.
Share items with AirDrop
You can also send files directly from the app through the "Share" feature.
1. In an app, click the "Share" button, or right-click the item you want to share.
2, choose "AirDrop" from the Shared Options menu shown.
3. Select recipients in the shared form displayed.
4, click "Send".
