Impact of Oracle's acquisition of sun on groovy/grails
The first thing we feel is that there should be a good impact.
Oracle has long supported the Java platform. This is not an alternative to Oracle, but an inevitable choice as a competitor of Ms. Now it has acquired sun, and there is no reason not to support Java. Therefore, the future of Java is still bright.
Oracle has supported groovy/grails as early as last year. Now it has acquired sun and has two options: one is to continue to support Sun's jruby and the other is to continue to support groovy/grails. Both options are possible.
If Oracle chooses to continue to support groovy/grails, because it holds the Java platform, it will be more compatible with groovy/grails for JVM. It is best for groovy/grails.
If Oracle chooses to continue to support jruby, there is no doubt that, as a supporter and user of the Java platform, IBM will choose to support groovy/grails. With the support of IBM, groovy/grails will have a bright future.
