In-depth understanding of Oracle optimizer (2): Should I translate carnality?

SenseIt is difficult to translate Cardinality into a base number and mislead technical engineers!

I think the translator who initially translated the word did not understand the meaning of the word itself, so the dictionary will mislead many people.

The base gives people the feeling of gathering all. For example, China's population base is large, with 1.3 billion
The cardinality should be the number of outputs after certain conditions are applied to the set.
For example, if the monthly income is more than 10 thousand, if there are 10 million people in China, then the 10 million is relative to 1.3 billion cardinality.
Cardinality should be a subset. You need to consider the specific translation, such as the output number, subset, and selection number.

"Select number" seems to be more suitable for the database field, corresponding to the selection rate selecti.pdf
Select number = selection rate * num_rows
Here num_rows should be called the base.

Therefore, it is best not to translate!
