First step: Install the operating system

ArcGIS officially recommends only four systems:

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6.x

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.x

Special note that 32-bit systems are no longer supported in ArcGIS 10.1

Since CentOS is not so much different from Redhat, CentOS can also be used to install related software, so this time we use CentOS for installation

There is no particular need to be aware of during the installation of the system, but in order to avoid having to add too many related packages later, I chose the developer version installation, which is highly recommended if there are no related production system limitations.

Many tutorials on the web have a lot of limitations on the computer name settings, and a large part of the problem with ArcGIS deployment really happens on the computer name, and the configuration of the computer name directly determines the success or failure of the installation. However, since the computer name of the Linux system can be reconfigured after installation, here we skip the first.

Our goal is ultimately to deploy the relevant services on Linux and access outside the virtual machines, so you must configure the networking of the virtual machines,

Virtual Machine network mode is divided into bridge, Nat and Host-only host mode, it is recommended Nat method, there is good compatibility and security, communication with the host is also more convenient, pay attention to confirm VMnet0 and VMNET8 the two virtual network card is open.

Configure virtual machine options, configure NAT networks and Mount ArcGIS ISO discs

When configured, start the virtual machine.
