Running the Software Update Manager
Context
To run the Software Update Manager on the application server (primary application server instance), proceed as follows:
Procedure
Log on to the "host" which the primary application server instance is running as User ADM (instance user).
Unpack the Software Update Manager package (. SAR) with the following command:
For Microsoft Windows:
SAPCAR–XF \. Sar-r: \usr\sap\
This command creates the directory SUM under the: \usr\sap\ directory. can also specify a directory other than: \usr\sap\. In the following, the directory \\SUM are referred to as.
For UNIX:
SAPCAR–XF//. Sar-r/usr/sap/
This command creates the directory SUM under The/usr/sap/directory. You can also specify a directory, other than/usr/sap/. In the following, the directory//sum are referred to as.
Note
The complete path to the SUM folder must not exceed characters.
Start the Software Update Manager entering the following command:
For Microsoft Windows:
: \\STARTUP. BAT confighostagent
For Microsoft Windows and MS SQL Server, enter the following command:
: \\STARTUP. BAT confighostagent JVM6
For UNIX:
Cd/usr/sap//sum
./startup Confighostagent

Always call the script with the root user.
