Installing an Oracle VM VirtualBox virtual machine in XP

The host system is: windowsxp SP3.

Because a lot of people's system has certain problems, loaded on the time can not be Simplified Chinese version. I will take a screenshot of the Chinese and English interface below to look at the comparison. I hope to have some help for those who are slightly weaker in English.

Importing and exporting virtual computers This is a feature that the reader is experimenting with. In fact, the exported virtual hard disk will have VDI, format into VMDK can be compatible with VMware.

The following needs to be explained at a time. Virtual media management is provided in VirtualBox to facilitate our daily management. Each virtual hard disk, virtual discs (ISO files), and virtual floppy disks (IMG files) are to be managed at the same time. This means that when you want to build a virtual machine or use an ISO file, you have to register it in the admin interface. Otherwise there is no way to use it. Physical discs and physical floppy disks are not required to be registered here.

The following preparations are ready to begin installation. I'm used to creating a virtual hard disk and then installing the system. Then I'll start with the new virtual hard disk. In fact, it can be created directly, and this process is similar to the new VMware process, where I don't list the instances.

On the other hand, VirtualBox is compatible with the VMDK-format virtual hard disk, which means it can be built with VMware virtual hard disks.

Here's an explanation of the dynamic expansion and fixed size:

Dynamic expansion means that a new virtual hard disk occupies a smaller physical hard disk, and expands dynamically as you install the system and software, but does not exceed your maximum (the next step is to set the size of the virtual hard disk)

Fixed size refers to writing a file (virtual hard disk) of your size on your physical hard drive when you create a new one. This process takes a little longer. And to keep an eye on the remaining space on the physical hard disk, dynamic scaling is basically not considered.

In this step, it is important to note that the required space for each operating system is set to the appropriate size. When you select the new virtual hard disk file location, you can click the Small folder on the right to modify it.

If the kernel is not set up, it is extremely easy to create a blue screen of the virtual machine (I will not be interested to try it myself).

I personally think that the memory settings to look at the memory of the host.

My experience is that in-memory virtual opportunities open up a piece of your own memory space, which is where the memory of the host increases, but does not appear as a process in the process manager.

Be accustomed to VMware's attention, here the hotkey is not ctrl+alt, but the keyboard to the right of the CTRL. You can also set it yourself. However, you can only set one and cannot be set to Ctrl+alt. Do not know the future version will not change.

Select the optical drive or floppy drive to install the virtual system. Here I am installing XP SP3.

The installation process of the system in the virtual machine is omitted in this, I believe everyone will install the system normally.

Install the enhancements before installing the system to enable functional expansion. These include 3D acceleration and so on.

Both of these cases are installed at the same point. It may take a long time in the process, please be patient for a while.

As for the other operating systems, such as REDHAT,REDFLAG,FREEBSD, the reader can practice. Some operating systems do not install enhanced features, such as DOS and so on ~ ~
