Introduction to Linux

Reason: Although Linux was initially used because it was free and does not want to bear the shame of using pirated software, it has become increasingly accustomed to this system after a while. Not as terrible as it is.

Problem: What is the operating system? What can be provided to users? What kind of system is best for us?

Generally speaking, the operating system is the interface between application software or utility tools and computers, and users use computers through application software and utility tools. In fact, the operating system only provides a big environment, and applications and utilities interact directly with users. Of course, the facilities provided by the operating system will affect the design and implementation of application software and utility tools. For end users, the two most important features of the operating system are convenience and flexibility. Convenience means that you can use one thing easily and become a good helper for you. flexibility means that the operating system can be customized as needed. For server users, performance and stability are more critical considerations.

So what kind of system is best for us? This depends on our preferences, backgrounds, and needs. For non-technical users, to learn about Linux, they may need to understand some difficult concepts and terminologies. They may not want to learn too much, convenience is the most important thing for them. They will sacrifice flexibility and choose convenience. For technical users, they are relatively easy to understand these concepts and terms, and learning these things may be necessary. In addition to convenience, flexibility is also an important consideration.

Finally, simple, elegant, and beautiful interfaces are also one of the important objectives pursued by people. The graphic user interface (GUI) has been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. It is a mix of things to say "return to the CLI era. For me, a better balance and compromise between CLI and GUI is a preferred choice. With a slightly weakened CLI, you can still experience the power of its powerful control computer, while the GUI gives a pleasant working environment.

Why Linux?

You may ask, Windows is used well, why do you need to "find your troubles" and use Linux? I think there are several reasons for the following:

1. in today's era, with the rise and development of cloud computing and mobile computing, more cheap and high-quality online software services and mobile applications will become the mainstream, and the desktop software era will gradually exit the stage of history; in the future, users only need to purchase low-cost terminals with certain processing capabilities to enjoy the services brought about by the huge computing resource pool. The essence of cloud computing and mobile computing is high-performance computing, network and communication, linux naturally has the advantage of "network computers;

2. linux brings together a large number of excellent software and utility tools. It is recognized as "a paradise for programmers" and is the best platform for deep learning about computers; this is of great value to computer science students and professionals;

3. for ordinary users, as long as they can get rid of the original fear generated in 1960s, it is not very difficult to master Linux. Moreover, with the gradual development of cloud computing, in the future, users may no longer be troubled by system damages or reinstallation (everything may be implemented on the cloud). Users only need to understand the Internet access and basic operations and input their own requirements, so they do not need to worry about everything. Differences between Linux and Windows systems will gradually decrease.

4. the user experience of Linux is also getting better and better. It is closer to convenience and flexibility in terms of performance stability. Windows is closer to performance and stability in terms of convenience and flexibility. The key to winning is whether their kernel design is sufficient to withstand future changes and sustained support.

5. Linux is derived from UNIX and is a system of high interest to hackers. hackers are always behind the scenes in the computer world, which is enough to ensure the long-term vitality of Linux.

Therefore, Linux is very worthwhile for both professionals and common users. Understanding Linux is not only a challenge for ordinary users, but also for professionals engaged in it, which can make your image of people around you suddenly grow up, it is also a good investment.

Which version of Linux is selected?

From the perspective of learning, it is not important to select a version of Linux. It is the most important to develop a good habit of using it and gain a deep understanding of its internal principles. Therefore, there is no need to worry about which version. Select a mainstream stable version and study it!

Feedback Open Source:

When open-source software and tools are used, efforts should be made to give back to the open-source community. Promote Linux to non-technical users, translate English documents, disseminate useful tools, and donate funds.

In a word:

Whether it is Linux, windows, suppression, or any other software, it is just a convenient tool. Whether it can be used to create magic depends on people themselves. If you really love it, let's create magic together with it!

A personal experience:

I once tried Baidu to find a download software that is easy to use in Linux. I don't want it to be so nice, as long as the download is fast enough. Finally, I found it, aria2c, which I did not expect to be able to download under the command line. In my mind, I have always been doing this job on the GUI. It wasn't until that moment that I really started to understand the philosophy of Linux. Small is beauty. In many cases, we don't need huge and gorgeous software, but some intimate gadgets. There are also many utility tools like aria2c that I don't know yet, many known tools, such as CAT, sort, grep, find
And so on. Imagine how powerful these tools will be if they are mastered? Looking forward and moving forward...
