This article uses iPod Touch 4 as an example to conduct jailbreak practices for iOS 5.1.1. The jailbreak methods for other iOS devices are similar. This article will detail the process before and after jailbreak and the causal relationship, it should be a Super invincible tutorial.

Preparation

Download the following necessary files:

ITunes: A required tool. I don't want to talk about it anymore. I don't know if Apple users don't install it. Of course, you can also install the synchronization assistant directly, but you also need the necessary drivers for iTunes. So it's not enough to install it. In addition, if the version of iTunes is too low, we recommend that you upgrade it. Otherwise, errors may occur.

Synchronization ASSISTANT: Optional. Purpose: Back up the address book, photo, and other content. Although it is the same as that of iTunes, the synchronization assistant is more convenient, and 91 assistant is not recommended. I do not want to make it clear either.

IOS firmware: How can I install the system without it? Just like how to install windows without a Windows installation CD? We recommend that you use the special page provided by Weifeng. You can also use the jailbreak assistant released by the synchronization network to download it. We recommend that you use thunder to download it. Because different devices require different firmware, you can download the firmware based on your device model and version. The latest firmware version is 5.1.1. The firmware version 6.0 is in Beta state and has not been released in the official version. Here we will only discuss the jailbreak of the official version. We will not discuss the beta version much. I downloaded the ipod4, ip1.20.9b206_restore.ipsw firmware for my iPod Touch 4.

Backup Data

You can use the synchronization assistant to back up the data on your device and select the data you need to back up. Generally, the address book, memos, and photos are very important. Others seem to be less important, such as movies, music, and software.

The backup method is not mentioned. Select All images and download them to your local device. Export the address book and memo.

Note: If you have used iCloud synchronization, you cannot back up the address book and memo. In fact, I don't think there is a need to back up the two, because for memos, they are synchronized with the server, while for address book, QQ synchronization assistant is recommended for synchronization.

Back up SHSH

What is the use of backup SHSH? My understanding is that after the SHSH is backed up, if you upgrade the firmware but are not satisfied with the new firmware, it can help you downgrade to a firmware of a lower version.

Run tinyumbrella-5.11.00b.exe (if Java is required and there is no Java environment, download it by yourself). Select your device and click "Save SHSH.

The 5.1.1 prompt indicates that the backup is successful. Where is the backup? The default path is c: \ Documents and Settings \ Administrator \. SHSH.

NOTE: If your tinyumbrella version is too low, such as the tinyumbrella-5.01.00, it is impossible to back up the SHSH of 5.1.1.

Recover firmware

Before you start to jailbreak, you must upgrade your firmware through iTunes. Open iTunes to view your firmware version

Press shift and then click Restore. The path selection box is displayed. Select the IOS firmware file you just downloaded, for example, ipod4 and ipv5.1.20.9b206_restore.ipsw. After the selection is complete, iTunes prompts you that iTunes will erase the iPod and restore it to iOS 5.1.1. It will also be verified by Apple. Select recovery to start the recovery process. Please wait for a while.

After the device is restarted, a brand new apple appears in your hands. Right, there is no software or data. Just like the one you just bought, It's really empty.

Jailbreak

After the restoration, you can start to jailbreak. Previously, it was a little complicated to use redsn0w for jailbreak. I needed to unpack the ipsw file, and there were a few steps. This time I used absinthe for jailbreak, and a button was done, which was really convenient.

Decompress the downloaded absinthe-win-2.0.4.zipto run absinthe.exe and check your device. The following message is displayed:

Click the jaibreak button and wait for a while. manual operation is not required for absinthe jailbreak, which is really convenient. Wait for the above interface to prompt you: Done, enjoy !, It indicates the operation is successful. Then you can see the cydia icon on the iPod.

 

Add software sources for cydia

Open cydia, click "manage"> "software source", click "edit", and click "add" to add some common software sources, such as apt.178.com and app.weiphone.com/cydia).

The software source, as its name implies, is the source of software. If cydia is a special appstore, the software source is the warehouse that supplies the appstore, it is a place where many PJ software can be found. The more the source, the more resources it has. In addition to the above two software sources, I have installed some other sources:

For those software sources that are suitable for you, You can Google them on your own. I personally think that the first article source and Wei fengyuan are enough, because I basically won't install PJ software on cydia, unless it is required (such as roqybt4, whats3, etc ).

Install appsync

The appsync function is probably to install the IPA file directly on the computer. It is required. Let's install it. Open cydia, click search, enter appsync, search, find appsync for ios5.0 +, click Enter and install, and the installation is complete (you may need to restart ). I installed it from the first source of wenyuan. Of course, this is also available in Weifeng source.

After the installation is complete, connect the device to the computer and open the synchronization assistant. You will find that "the device has been jailbroken and appsync has been installed" has been specified in the jailbreak status ".

Install software

Now you can install the software you need. How to find the software? You can use the following methods:

1. Install it directly from cydia.

However, I personally do not recommend the software for two reasons. One is that the software is incomplete, outdated, and slow. The other is that the software installed from cydia seems to be used as a system.ProgramExists, not the user program, and the delete operation must also be completed in cydia [to be verified]. Some software must be installed from cydia, such as roqybt4 mentioned above (a program that converts external Bluetooth GPS into available GPS, so that the iPod also has the GPS hardware function, and is a paid software) and whats3( you can use WhatsApp on the iPod or iPad after installing this, because WhatsApp can only be used on iPhone devices with communication functions) and sogou input method.

2. download and install the IPA file from the website.

In China, there should be a lot of such software stations, and the biggest one should be the synchronized push Websites under the synchronization assistant. It is the same as the Taobao folder that everyone knows on Android phones, this is the biggest source of PJ software. Other websites like 51ipa are also good. If the software cannot be found on these websites, it is usually a bit unpopular overseas software, we can go to apptrackr to see (I suspect that the synchronization assistant has learned this way ). The download speed and block status of the basic online storage used in foreign countries are quite painful. But these aspects should be the best source for us to find PJ software. After the IPA is downloaded, use the synchronization assistant to directly install it.

3. download and install the SDK directly on IOS.

Of course, you can directly use Apple's appstore. But how can you get some real-time software information? How do I know if the software is excellent? How do I know the domestic comments? Therefore, we recommend Netease's Netease application center. We can immediately obtain the limited and free pushing software. We can look at the software applications recommended by celebrities and view topics of interest to them. Of course, all the products provided by the Netease application center are genuine software and will eventually be linked to the appstore for download. For the PJ software, use the client for Synchronous pushing, which is consistent with the PC Download function, but saves you the trouble of sitting in front of the computer.
