For modern browsers (html5 supported), you can use $ (selector) [0]. files [0]. size to calculate the size of the uploaded file on the client. However, in earlier versions of IE browsers, such as IE7, IE8, or IE9, this approach is not supported, but can be implemented using ActiveXObject objects.
