I have been asked many times how to start designing or what shortcuts can be used to become a better designer. Although there is no silver bullet, there are a lot of techniques and rules that will affect your general design approach.

Even if you have designed a completely different platform, you can apply the same technology if you have learned the same design concept as printing on the network. IOS is a platform, and design is back to its root cause. It feels like a modern magazine with beautiful text layout and simple layout. What you will learn in this book will help you design the best products.

Core concepts

IOS has three core concepts:Respect, clarity, and depth (deference, clarity and depth). Based on these design principles, I will use operable projects to explain their deeper meanings.

Deference 

Your content should be primary, and everything else is secondary. Supplement your content with elements to avoid visual dispersion.

Simplified

Your user interface should be the core of simplified architecture. Each time you add an element, ask yourself, "Is this necessary ?". Unless your app is a game or a specific topic, it will use heavy textures, 3 d effects and Multiple shadows. Otherwise, focus on functional colors, harmonious gradient and beautiful fonts.

 

Maximize content

The content should be filled with the entire screen, giving the elements in the largest space. Avoid maximizing multiple containers and scrolling areas, which allows more interactive spaces. Information space. Do not fill your screen with too many structured or unnecessary visual elements.

 

Icon status

The icons in the navigation bar are divided into two modes: no filling mode and filling mode. The reason for not filling is to reduce distraction. When an icon is filled, more attention will be given, which means that the interface is active.

Clarity

Make things obvious. The button should be self-explanatory, and the layout should be large enough and readable at a comfortable distance. Your content should clearly indicate what your application is. For example, if this is a coffee application, you should have a reminder of coffee beans, coffee and brown coffee.

Make the text readable

In Retina, the layout should be the minimum size of 11 pt. The optimal reading size is about 16 pt.

  Make it pleasant

Three things mentioned in the Guide can make your apps stand out: animations, gestures, and sounds. However, it is easy to go to extremes, so use it appropriately.

Animation

Screen animation not only transits to another screen, but also increases the design fun. It also brings important elements.

By introducing the iPhone 5 high screen, the thumb-back button is too high to be reached. Therefore, a gesture can be extended to interaction even though the button is not so clearly visible. This makes it easier for users to operate. We need less visual clues and more useful features.

Sound

Sound is the minimum use of applications, they can take an ordinary task as a truly beneficial experience. People can even recognize your applications when they don't see them. When the voice is correct, it means that you have succeeded with the least effort.

Three Principles

If you ignore everything, you must at least consider these three important rules. iOS design: Consider the touch interface to make text readable and optimize iPhone 5, 6, and 6 +.

Touch Design

It should be easy to touch the button. The size between them should be 30-60 PT wide. The optimum size is 44 pt. In rare cases, set the link text to 22 pt, but use it with caution because they become difficult to use. The text button has a touch area of at least 30 pt.

Readability

The layout should be the minimum size of 11 pt. The optimal reading font size is about 16 pt. Better reading experience with a Row Height of 120-145%.

Layout

You should now respect 3 Resolution: 320x480 pt 375 x667pt and 414x736 pt. Make sure that extra space is used and your content can be expanded based on the screen size.

Landscape mode

IPhone 6 + is increasingly popular, especially in China (about 40% ). The app will display different landscape modes, displaying an additional menu on the left, similar to on iPad. Therefore, many applications start to support the Landscape mode.
