IDE is an Integrated Drive Electronics. It is a hard Drive that integrates the controller and the disk body. IDE represents the transmission interface of the hard disk. We often call the IDE interface, also known as the ATA (Advanced Technology Attachment) interface. Currently, most hard disks used by PCS are IDE compatible, you only need to use a cable to connect them to the motherboard or interface card. Transmission speed: 100 Mb/s (Ultra ATA/100) Advantages: cheap; disadvantages: slow, built-in use only, strict restrictions on the length of the interface cable

A scsi hard disk is a hard disk using the SCSI Interface. SCSI is short for the Small Computer System Interface (Small Computer System Interface). It uses the 50-pin Interface and looks similar to a common hard disk Interface. The SCSI hard disk has many advantages over the ordinary IDE Hard Disk: The interface speed is fast, and because it is mainly used for servers, the hard disk performance is also relatively high, the hard disk speed is fast, the cache capacity is large, low CPU usage, far better scalability than IDE hard disk, and supports hot swapping. At the same time, it is expensive because it is expensive, so it is rarely seen in ordinary PCs.

The hard drive at the SATA (Serial ATA) port is also called the Serial hard drive, which is the trend of PC hard drive in the future and has basically replaced the traditional PATA hard drive. The full name of SATA is Serial Advanced Technology Attachment. Serial ATA adopts the Serial connection mode, and Serial ATA bus uses embedded clock signals to provide better error correction capabilities, the biggest difference from the past is that it can check transmission commands (not just data). If an error is found, it will be automatically corrected, which greatly improves the reliability of data transmission. The serial interface also has the advantages of simple structure and supports hot swapping. Supports hot swapping, fast transmission, and high execution efficiency.

2: Hard Disk Partition:

Hard Disk name: First Hard Disk: sda second Hard Disk: sdb and so on. A hard disk can only have four primary partitions, named sda1, sda2, sda3, and sda4 respectively. The logical partition starts from 5 and Adds 1 to the end if no more logical partitions exist, there is no limit on the number of logical partitions. For example, the drive C of win is a primary partition, and the remaining D, E, and F are logical partitions. In linux, sda1 is the primary partition, which is equivalent to sda5 and sda6. Each system must be guided by a primary partition. All stored procedures and parameters are required to guide the entire system. The operating system can be installed in the primary partition or logical partition, but the boot program must be installed in the logical partition.

Linux partitions must be root partitions and swap partitions. The root partition must store files in the system and be mounted to the root directory (/). Swap partitions are equivalent to windows virtual memory, it is a supplement to memory, but it also needs to know the advantages and disadvantages of swap when it is used.

Partition: a hard disk must have one primary partition and multiple logical partitions. However, if windows is installed on the computer, you can set the partition as a logical partition, this avoids conflicts with the original one.

The swap size cannot exceed 2 GB, but it can be generally greater than the memory size.
