Linux has just released the latest stable version kernel 2.6.30, which is nearly March (a new version in three months) after 2.6.29 of the previous version, and has passed 8 RC versions. 2.6.29 to 2.6.29.4, 2.4 series is 2.4.37.2. improvements to this version include: NILFS2 file system with a log structure added, File System Based on Object Storage devices, and buffer layer with local NFS data cache (initially supported by NFS 4.1 ), distribute reliable RDS protocols among servers in the cluster, Distributed Network File System (POHMELFS), in ext3, ext4 and btrfs automatically refresh renamed/truncated files (enhanced File System Performance), basic support for 802.11w, support for microblze architecture, Tomoyo security module, and DRM support for Radeon R6xx/R7xx graphics cards, fast Start of asynchronous scanning devices and partitions, MD support between RAID 5/6 modes, preadv/pwritev System Call, LZMA/B ZIP2 kernel image compression and some new drivers and minor improvements.
