Linux: Regional distribution of user groups

 

For a long time, the EU has been paying close attention to the current situation of free/open-source software (FOSS). They always want to "understand" the problem ". The basic position of the European Union on FOSS is not to increase the "output value" of FOSS on the surface, but to promote the "effectiveness" of FOSS in a deeper level ". This stance deserves our consideration. The EU considers how to inject FOSS into the existing "Private software industry" to enhance the "Physical Constitution" of this traditional industry and make it develop healthily. Let's make it clear that we can't mix FOSS with the general "Private software", simply make "production profit", and force the FOSS to "make money ". The FOSS industry must go another way.

Some people say that 70% of the existing FOSS (Source Code) in the world is contributed by EU countries (residents. Of course, this is not true. Where are the main linux user groups in the world? This issue makes sense. Currently, the world's largest "Source code forging center" (www.sourceforge.net) is hosting a total of 163,493 FOSS development projects, with a total of 1,738,407 registered persons. According to Mr. Ross Turk, the center's managing director, the number of people accessing the center (IP addresses cannot be recorded repeatedly) reached 25 million in February of this year, 20.02% of visitors are from North America, 31.93% are from seven major EU countries (Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Britain and Poland), and 4.27% are from Brazil, japan accounts for 2.72%, while other countries and regions account for 40.07% (there is a slight error in total ). Although the visitor is not the developer (user), the FOSS developer (User) must be the visitor here. From this, it is not difficult to estimate (infer) that FOSS developers (users) in the world mostly come from (living in) developed countries and regions and are "centered" in Europe and America ".

Some people say that China is a "big consumption country of FOSS ". In fact, we are not a "big consumption country of FOSS" (which cannot afford to consume), but a "big country of Windows piracy ". The "consumption" of FOSS must have a certain social environment (level of understanding and technical basis) and a corresponding FOSS talent reserve ......,
