According to foreign media reports, although most users do not have touch screen devices, Windows 7 supports multi-touch. Therefore, if you purchase a touch screen device, Windows 7 users can use the multi-touch function. However, Linux users are not so lucky.
However, according to the Liliputing website, the ENAC computer Interaction lab ENAC Interactive Computing Laboratory has supported the multi-touch function in the Fedora12 system.
ENAC uses the X.org evdev driver to support hardware by modifying the system kernel. Although this is not the official multi-touch feature, the Linux system is obviously moving in the correct direction.
If you need to implement multi-touch in your Linux system, you need to meet the following requirements:
· Linux kernel version no less than 2.6.31;
· The computer must be equipped with a Broadcom 5974 touchpad chip or Ntrig, and use the 3 M/Stantum/NTrig/DiamondTouch touch product Acer T230H, Asus EeePC T91MT, and HP TouchSmart tx2 );
· Install Stantum MTP, Stantum HID, 3 M, Acer (not working properly), Asus (not working properly), or DiamondTouch drivers;
· Import the hid-core.c and hid-ids.h files into the drivers/hid Kernel Directory of the Linux system;
· Install X.org X11R7.5 with the Fedora 12 driver );
