Linux under the network card configuration supplemental __linux

The NIC configuration file for RedHat 9.0 can be located in the following three locations.
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default/ifcfg-eth0
Only the configuration files located in/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/are present by default, and there are no profiles in the other two locations. The configuration file in this directory is read directly when the NIC is started using the/etc/init.d/network command. Therefore, in general, you only need to modify the file to change the network card related parameters.
In addition, the configuration file located in the/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default directory is interesting, this profile alone does not work, only when the/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ Files in the ~/default directory when there is a configuration file in the directory will not work.
At present, it appears that the/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/directory must have ifcfg-eth0 this profile, otherwise run the/etc/init.d/network command will not start the network card.
In addition, if there is a profile in the/etc/sysconfig/networking/profiles/default directory, the configuration file in the Network-scripts directory will become a device, running/etc/init.d/ The network command reads the parameters from the configuration file in the default directory rather than from the Network-scripts directory's configuration file.
This is not the case for Redhat AS4, only the configuration files in the/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/directory will work
