Microsoft released the latest Cognitive Toolkit 2.0 beta deep learning Toolkit!
GuideMicrosoft released its open-source deep learning Toolkit 2.0 beta version today. Previously, this software was called Computational Network Toolkit (CNTK). In this update, Microsoft renamed it Cognitive Toolkit.
The new toolkit supports the Python language in addition to C ++ (Python 3 is supported; Python 2 is coming soon ). Microsoft scientist Xuedong Huang said in an interview that the previous failure to support Python was a major defect in Cognitive Toolkit and restricted the application scope of the Toolkit.
The new toolkit provides enhanced performance and learning capabilities. Huang xuedong said that developers can directly use the Cognitive Toolkit in the integrated development environment of Visual Studio without running the Cognitive Toolkit script.
Deep Learning is currently a hot field, and its essence is to train artificial neural networks for big data. In addition to Microsoft, developers also have many open-source tools to choose from, such as Google's TensorFlow and similar products such as Torch, Caffe, and Paddle.
Microsoft's Cognitive Toolkit complements Google's TensorFlow. As Google continues its deep learning in more and more places, Microsoft uses Cognitive Toolkit on its own products such as Windows, Bing, and Skype. With Python 2.0, Cognitive Toolkit is widely used. The refrigerator company liebhaier is already using this tool.
Microsoft intends to enable Cognitive Toolkit to support more programming environments, such as R and C #. Now you can use the Cognitive Toolkit on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. At the same time, Azure is open to competing products of the same kind. TensorFlow can be used like Caffe. However, data from Microsoft shows that Cognitive Toolkit has two test environments-four GPUs and one CPU respectively, and four GPUs and two CPUs both outperformed TensorFlow, Torch, and Caffe.
In March January this year, Microsoft migrated CNTK from CodePlex to GitHub and adopted a more relaxed MIT license agreement.
