Microsoft's perception of Linux has changed completely over the years, and as the open-source world grows faster, Raymond (Microsoft headquarters) has no choice but to adapt and seek to approach the growing community.

Microsoft has released several new products that no one would have believed a decade ago, such as Bash on Windows 10, and Microsoft is also ready to bring more things to Linux, this time specifically for Skype users.

A new Skype for Linux client?
As this is being released through the Microsoft Skype community, it's not hard to guess that Microsoft is most likely releasing a new version of the Skype app for Linux. Microsoft is currently using Windows Insider projects for Windows and Office Beta, so there are speculation that Microsoft will bring the same Microsoft product Beta program for Linux users.

The current version of Skype's Linux is often criticized for its rudimentary functionality and outdated user interface, and some of the features already on the Windows client are not available on the Linux version.

Microsoft is developing Skype for Windows 10 at full speed and is now developing a unified app that can run on PCs and smartphones, and a new Linux version of Skype will bring this VoIP client to more platforms.

We will keep a close watch on Microsoft's announcement next week, so stay tuned and let's see what Microsoft will bring to Skype for Linux.
