Notes for installing sogou pinyin linux on Ubuntu 14.04

Ubuntu 14.04 has finally come in hope of a lot of hope. Like other linux enthusiasts, I deleted the old 12.04 and started to experience the next LTS version.

I don't want to install Ubuntu Kirin version. I just want the original Ubuntu version and try to check it with foreigners. So I chose to install Ubuntu 12.04 amd64.

I am eager to search for dog input methods for linux, wps, wineQQ, and vlc. I hope to achieve the same purpose through my efforts.

First, I want to solve the first problem: Install the linux version of sogou PinYin Input Method and the original cloud input method.

For the first time, I installed it based on my previous ideas, but soon encountered problems and had a long struggle. After reading a lot of information, I went to the Forum to ask, asked by the QQ group, and asked by the Ubuntu post, finally, I found out the solution:

1. Install Ubuntu 14.04 64 in Chinese instead of the default English version;

2. After Ubuntu 14.04 is installed, after updating and installing the complete Language Pack, the first thing to do is to install sogou pinyin. Because this is not flat, all the subsequent system configurations are white-dry;

3. Download the deb package of sogou pinyin linux from sogou official website.

After downloading the package, double-click the deb package to install the package. By default, the package is installed in the Software Center;

4. after installation, You need to configure it so that the system uses sogou Pinyin input method as the input method we want. This is a big pitfall. Do not uninstall the ibus input method at this time, because 1404 integrates ibus into Unity by default, the update manager will also be uninstalled after uninstallation. Another issue that should be noted is that do not use methods similar to the following

Im-switch-s fcitx-z default

Or set it in environment variables.

Export XMODIFIERS = "@ im = fcitx"
Source/etc/profile to make it take effect

Instead, use the following method to change the default input method to fcitx in language settings.

Select "apply to entire system" to save the window. Restart the system, log in, and you will see the following interface, so that the sogou input method is installed.
