section describes how to burn uboot, kernel, and file systems to NAND Flash, and set the NUC970 series of chips to boot from NAND flash. This section of the operation requires a Windows environment. (Initial connection to PC requires driver installation)

A. Cool Guest-coidea972 Development Board UART and USB connected pc

B. Set the cool guest-coidea972 Development Board to USB boot, and the computer will display new hardware

C. Open the Nuwriter Select NUC970 series Chip and select Finish and press "Continue"

Note: The nuwriter will automatically connect to the Development Board when it is opened. The re-connect indicator light shows green. If the board is power-up or reset, you need to press the Re-connect key to reconnect.

From the Development Board of the serial printing information, you can also see the Development Board working State, when the Development Board power, the serial printing information as follows:

This information indicates that the development Board is booting on USB. When the Nuwriter is connected to the Development Board, the serial printing information is as follows:

This information represents the Development Board into the program download mode, at which time the program can be downloaded.

D. Erase the overall

Erasing the whole is not necessary, but if the file system has been updated, or if the file is still unable to properly burn the boot will need to erase the whole, click on the Nuwriter Erase button erase the overall.

In the popup dialog box, click OK to erase the whole.

E. Burning U-boot-spl.bin,

          1. Select "NAND" mode
          2. Enter Image profile data:
            1. Image Name:u-boot-spl.bin
            2. Image Type:uboot
            3. Image encrypt:disable
            4. Image Execute address:0x200
          3. Press "Burn"
          4. Wait for the progress meter to complete
          5. Press "Verify" to confirm the correct burn-in data

F. Burning U-boot.bin

1. Select "NAND" mode

2. Enter Image profile data:

            1. Image Name:u-boot.bin
            2. Image Type:data
            3. Image encrypt:disable
            4. Image Start offset:0x100000

3. Press "Burn"

4. Wait for the progress meter to complete

5. Press "Verify" to confirm the correct burn-in information.

G. Burning Env.txt

          1. Select "NAND" mode
          2. Enter Image profile data:
            1. Image Name:env.txt
            2. Image type:environment
            3. Image encrypt:disable
            4. Image Start offset:0x80000
          3. Press "Burn"
          4. Wait for the progress meter to complete
          5. Press "Verify" to confirm the correct burn-in data

H. Burning 970uimage

          1. Select "NAND" mode
          2. Enter Image profile data:
            1. Image Name:970uimage
            2. Image Type:data
            3. Image encrypt:disable
            4. Image Start offset:0x200000
          3. Press "Burn"
          4. Wait for the progress meter to complete

          5. Press "Verify" to confirm the correct burn-in data

I. Burning the Rootfs_yaffs2 file system

    1. Select "NAND" mode
      1. Enter Image profile data:
        1. Image NAME:ROOTFS_YAFFS2
        2. Image Type:data
        3. Image encrypt:disable
        4. Image start offset:0x2000000 (note here a 0 more than above)
      2. Press "Burn"
      3. Wait for the progress meter to complete
      4. Press "Verify" to confirm the correct burn-in data

J. Set the cool guest-coidea972 Development Board to boot from NAND and restart the cool guest-coidea972 Development Board.

K. So far, the embedded Linux system has successfully run on the Development Board.

Because the Linux system does not have any boot-start applications installed, the LCD interface will always show the Linux kernel boot interface. Write or add your own apps.

There is only NAND needed, and no SPL is needed.
