One-stop Linux Office call between components

As a large office suite, Data embedding and calling between functional modules of OpenOffice (OO) is essential and is also a manifestation of the powerful functions of this Office suite. In OO, how can we call each function module? What are the other methods? In the last phase of the Linux Office Train series, I will introduce the common methods in detail and explain them with examples.

Call methods between components of OpenOffice

1. Direct replication:

Direct calling is the simplest method. As the name suggests, it is to copy and paste directly. For example, a professional and persuasive document usually requires a chart to intuitively prove its point of view, therefore, you need to add tables or charts in Calc to the writer document. The specific method is to select the expected chart in Calc, select "Edit> copy" in the menu, and select "Edit> paste" in the appropriate position in the writer to paste it.

TIPS: the commonly used shortcut keys "Ctrl + C" and "Ctrl + V" inherit their usage in Linux, making it easier.

2. insert direct object method:

Although the direct copy method is simple, it is troublesome to start the corresponding functional modules separately. The simpler method is to use the insert object method for calling. The specific method is as follows:

First, place the cursor at the position of the object to be inserted. Then, select the "insert object" button on the left-side main toolbar of OO. The insert object floating dialog box is displayed, this dialog box lists the objects that can be inserted and directly inserts the desired objects. Then, a simple interface of the corresponding functional components of the corresponding objects is displayed, editing the objects in this interface, until the object meets the requirements. Finally, click the blank area of the document to integrate different objects.

For example, insert a table created by calc in impress. Generally, in the annual summary or financial status slide, you only need to select the calc worksheet in the insert object floating panel of impress, then adjust the location as needed. This is an accurate slide (see Figure 1: Insert a workbook object in impress )!

3. OLE object Method

The insert object method is more powerful than the insert object method. The simpler and easier way is to insert the OLE object method. The advantage of this method is to directly edit the objects created by any oo function module in the document, in addition, the integration between objects is high. The most important thing is that you can use an object saved in a ready-made file instead of opening the file. This greatly saves time and improves office efficiency.

The specific method is:

Select "insert → object → OLE object" in the OO main menu, and then select the insert OLE object method (you can select "new" or "Slave file") in the insert OLE object dialog box ), if you want to use the icon saved in a previously created draw document, you can select "Slave file" and select this file to insert it directly to the new document.

If a new object is selected, the edit window of the corresponding object function component appears in the current document. You can easily create a new object, which is the same as opening it in the corresponding function module.

For example, insert the Draw art in Calc:

Inserting an art word in a workbook as the title can beautify the document. However, the direct object insertion method cannot be used because there is no ready-made draw object available. However, the OLE object method can be easily implemented. The method is: first, create a workbook and select "insert → object → OLE object" in the OO main menu .. ", then select draw from the pop-up dialog box to display the familiar draw window at the cursor position, and then perform the same operations as in draw, which will not be repeated here (see Figure 2: insert a wordart in Calc ).

TIPS: What is an OLE object?

Ole is the abbreviation of Object Linking and Embedding. It is called object connection and embedding. If you have learned VB, you may know that there is a control in VB called OLE object, you can use this control to call data in other formats. In fact, the application of OLE technology in the office is to meet the needs of users to add different formats of data (such as text, images, sounds, etc.) in a document, that is, to solve the problem of building a composite document. In OO, Ole is exactly the same as the above concepts, but it only uses a more sophisticated component technology, using OLE, you can easily call and collaborate with each other to create a composite document for each function module in OO.

Let's take a look at how to insert a draw icon in impress:

When I create a slide in impress and use a Linux inside logo File Created in draw, the most convenient way is to use the OLE object. Other methods are difficult or cannot be implemented, you need to start the correspondingProgramOpen the file. To use an OLE object, you only need to select "create object from file" in the insert OLE object dialog box to easily call objects in the file (see Figure 3: Edit objects in the file in impress )!

Now, the call between objects in OpenOffice is introduced here. I hope you can use the powerful functions provided by OO to create professional composite documents.

Conclusion

The serialization of OO has come to an end.ArticleNow we know that the daily office work in Linux is fast and efficient, and it has the stability that Windows does not possess. Open your Oo and start your day's work in Linux!
