3.1.1 Direct Management model
The principle of "Enterprise Manager" direct management mode is shown in Figure 3.1, with a total of 3-tier structures.
1. Managing Clients
Install Enterprise Manager on the management client, invoke other integration management tools through Enterprise Manager, and use the SQL *net protocol to establish a connection to the database server.
2. Connect Network
Common TCP/IP protocol to build a connection network.
3. Database server Group
A distributed Database server group in which the server runs the SQL *net protocol to respond to client connections, and there may be several databases on each server.
3.1.2 Management Server Centralized management mode
The principle of centralized management mode as shown in Figure 3.2, in addition to connecting the network layer there are 3 layers of structure.
1. "Managing Clients"
Install Enterprise Manager on the Manage clients, log on to Management Server from Enterprise Manager, and then invoke other integration management tools.
Enterprise Manager does not directly connect to the database, but instead logs on to the database through the Management Server.
2. "Management Server"
The Management Server is the middle tier that connects the database server and manages the client.
A database warehouse is established on the Management Server to store administrative information from the management client, and then the administrative tasks are released to the "Smart agent" execution of the database server.
To use advanced administrative features such as events, jobs, groups, e-mail, and scheduling, you must establish a Management server.
3. "Database Server"
The database server consists of administrative targets (including nodes, databases, Web servers, application servers, and so on) and "smart Agents." Through the "intelligent agent" to complete the Management server issued by the management task.
Smart Agent is a program that completes the tasks assigned by the Manage server and automatically installs the smart agent when you select Typical to install an Oracle 9i database server.
