1.to_multi_byte
Syntax: To_multi_byte (String)

Function: Calculates all single-byte nonalphanumeric replaced by a string equivalent to a multibyte character. This function is valid only if the database character set contains both multibyte and single-byte characters. Otherwise, string does not perform any processing. To_multi_byte and To_single_byte are the opposite of the two functions.
Sql> Select To_multi_byte (' Test ') from dual;

2. To_single_byte

Syntax: To_single_byte (String)

Function: Computes the substitution of all multibyte-character nonalphanumeric in a string for equivalent single-byte characters. This function is valid only if the database character set contains both multibyte and single-byte characters. Otherwise, string does not do any processing.

To_multi_byte and To_single_byte are the opposite of the two functions.

Sql> Select To_single_byte (' Test ') from dual;
