PowerDesigner Oracle Reverse engineering to CDM file __oracle

Using PowerDesigner reverse engineering to guide the data Model diagram is very convenient, take Powerdesigner11 and Oracle8i as an example (other versions slightly different)

The basic steps are as follows:

1, open or create a new Physicaldatamodel file (. pdm), (the DBMS is Sybase as Anywhere 9, or a DBMS that can select its own version of the database in the Drop-down list, such as Oracle version 8i (8.1.5))

2. menu item Database->configure connections->system DSN->add-> Select Oracle ODBC Driver complete-> Enter Data Source Name (number According to the source name, arbitrarily take one on the line, such as ORA_PDM, enter service name (is the database you want to connect to the Network service name), UserID (you can not fill in) Click OK

3.database->connet-> Select the first Machine data source to select the database just built ORA_PDM, enter UserID and password in login, click Connect. Without any hint, the connection is successful.

4.database->reverse Engineer Database-> Select the Using an ODBC data source, the Drop-down box is just the one that was matched, click OK-> a connection input box to enter user Name and Password Click OK-> Error: Unable to list the users ....  Table or view does not exist ... This problem occurs because the DBMS for the first step of the new PDM file is Sybase as Anywhere 9. Workaround, create a new PDM file, select the DBMS as your own version of the database DBMS, and then repeat step 4.

5. List of tables, select the table you want to export-> dot OK, data table more and responsible, slowly wait

6. Transfer the PDM document into the CDM document

7.tools->generate conceptual Data Model-> ceneral: Not pleasing to the default name and code can be changed by themselves, detail items: Check Model before the check to remove,-> confirm C DM Graph Generation
