Yesterday, China's first "Linux University Promotion alliance"-Zhejiang Province Linux University Promotion Alliance was established at Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology in Xiasha University City. Ni guangnan, an academician of the Chinese engineering institute, and Chen daxin, director of the Provincial Information Industry Department, unveiled the alliance. Academician Ni guangnan also made a keynote report on promoting Linux and building a powerful software country. Professor Yuan Meng of Peking University, also known as "father of Linux in China", made a keynote speech. Representatives of leading international Linux enterprises such as RedHat, IBM, Intel, Novell, and Sybase, representatives from the China Linux Industry Strategic Alliance, the China Open Source Code promotion alliance, the provincial Department of Education, the provincial Software Association, the provincial student union, and international and domestic well-known software enterprises attended the inaugural meeting.
Operating systems are the core technologies of the software industry and the high-tech technologies that must compete for national strategies, therefore, promoting the open-source Linux operating system will become a strategic decision to maintain national information security and develop the national information industry. Zhejiang is a major economic and software province. There are more than 70 colleges and universities in the province, with 0.57 million students. To promote the development of the Linux Industry in Zhejiang province, the Linux Professional Committee of Zhejiang Province has set up a Linux Promotion Center in key colleges and universities in the province. Up to now, it has launched various Linux promotion activities in more than 20 colleges and universities, it has been sought after by college students. Tens of thousands of college students have listened to the Linux Special Report, of which nearly have received the Linux Professional training certification. Zhejiang Province took the lead in setting up the "Linux University Promotion alliance", which played a significant role in the national software industry and universities.
