Ransomware virus in OS X system security risks of operating system X Mac hard disk being encrypted by hackers

In the past, the security of OS X systems often gave users a sense of reliability and stability. However, with the increase in Mac user base and the increase in OS x information value, OS X has gradually become the target of hacker attacks in recent years.

This warning was reported last week on the popular BitTorrent client Transmission Website: software with version 2.90 downloaded from the Transmission official website may have been infected by a type of malware called "KeRanger. The notification is as follows:

 

Users who have installed version 2.90 on OS X should immediately upgrade to version 2.91 or delete version 2.90 because it may contain a file infected by malware.

 

The following describes how to check whether the device is infected:

 

Use the "activity monitor" that comes with OS X and check whether the project named "kernel_service" is running. If yes, double-click the process and select "open files and ports" to check whether there is a file name similar to "/Users // Library/kernel_service. If the process exists, it is the main process of KeRanger. We recommend that you end the process with "Exit-force exit.

 

According to Reuters, the infected file is a Ransomware virus, the first time it appeared on the OS X platform, generally, Windows systems are the targets of such malware attacks. Ransomware is a type of high-speed growth malware that uses computer vulnerabilities to kidnap data. Attackers encrypt the data of victims and require victims to pay for decryption keys.

 

 

Apple has noticed the emergence of the malware and said it has taken measures to prevent the software from being installed on Mac. It is reported that, three days after Mac is infected with the virus, its hard disk will be encrypted by hackers.
