When the selected Attribute of select is dynamically changed using javascript, it does not work.
A <option selected = 'selected'> hello </option> explicitly has selected = 'selected', but it is not selected.
Only the pre-written <option selected = 'selected'> hello </option> is displayed.
This problem occurs only in firefox5, but not in FF4, so I guess it's a BUG in FF5.
The possible cause is that FF5 is in performance consideration and caches some attributes of the dom element loaded at the beginning. When F5 is used for Refresh, FF still uses cached attributes, instead of using new attributes.
New attributes can be rendered only when CTRL + F5 is used for force refreshing.
Finally, the solution was found in stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6849057/firefox-5-not-using-select-selected-value-on-page-refresh-retaining-old-value
In this example, you only need to add autocomplete = 'off' to the select tag. <select id = "sportid" name = "sportid" autocomplete = "off">
It is useful.
