Small fault about 'dnf Update' of Fedora 24
GuideThe adamora project team's adamwilliam amson released a service announcement on Fedora 24. Some of the Fedora 24 users run the dnf update command to see errors such as "duplicated packages" and "kernel updates not working, the graphic interface may even crash, and some users who have encountered this problem have not been notified about how to fix the bug.
Previously, adamwilliam amson of the Fedora Project Team released a public service (PSA), reminding the Fedora community that a serious problem occurred during internal updates!
Many users of Fedora 24 reported that since the 4th, when they run the dnf update command on the desktop, errors such as "duplicated packages" and "kernel updates not working" may occur when updating software through the official software repository.
After some investigation, William amson concluded that a bug exists in the dnf update process, which may cause graphical interfaces, such as GNOME or KDE, and even the entire X Window System (X11) to crash, however, this is related to the user's hardware configuration and installed software.
"When a crash occurs, the update process will be killed and cannot end completely, which is why it gets 'duplicated packages 'or other strange errors," Adam William amson said, "I am trying to work with the reporter to investigate the cause and hope to solve it, but at the moment,Do not run dnf update on the desktop !"
Therefore, if you are using the Fedora 24 operating system, do not run the dnf update command when using desktop environments such as KDE, GNOME, and Xfce. You can switch to text mode by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F3, or update the system offline.
Up to now, no notification has been sent to fix the bug.
