This method can be resolved: 1, WIN8 system cannot install SQL Server2000

2, WIN8 system installed after the SQL Server2000 can not start the workaround

Pre-installation settings:

1) Under the target folder, locate the \x86\setup\setupsql.exe right-click menu:

In the image above, "Compatibility Mode", "Permission Level" tick:

Note: "Compatibility Mode" is the choice of Windows XP (Service Pack2) mode

2), click < change all users ' Settings > buttons to appear as:

Tick the picture above. Note: It is in XP Pack2 mode, then click OK.

3) Then, right-click "Run as Administrator" SETUPSQL.exe should be able to install successfully.

Installation steps

1, choose the installation program, double hit Open autorun.exe

2. Appears as shown, select Install SQL Server 2000 build

Then choose to install the database server, as

3, select the following Installation Wizard appears, click Next

4, in the following window please select "Local Computer", click "Next" button

5, enter the computer name in the following window, or paste the computer name has been copied, the general system will default, and then click the "Next" button.

6, in the following window please select "Server and Client Tools", click "Next" button.

WIN8 system here is recommended to remove the "default" option tick, in the following "instance name" to enter the English instance name (English can be entered freely)

7, pop-up windows, such as the default installation path of the computer is "C:\SQL Server 2000" (it is recommended that customers install SQL 2000 to hard disk space for a larger point of the letter), click the "Overview" button to change the installation path

8, pop-up window, for example, after changing the SQL 2000 installation path, the computer displays the installation path of the SQL 2000, confirm click "Next" button.

9. Select "Use Local System account" in the pop-up window and click "Next".

10. Select "Mixed Mode" and "Blank password" in the window that pops up below, click "Next".

There may be a hint of error, click "OK" to

11, wait for the installation process to complete.

12, the next machine pop-up diagram indicates that the installation completed successfully.

Select "No, restart the computer later", then follow the steps below to hit the SQL SP4 patch and the no cap may not start the SQL service.

SQL2000 can be used after you restart the WIN8 system after installing the SQL Server2000 SP4 patch.

When you run the SQL2000 service Manager, an error 1722 (the RPC server is not available) resolves the workaround:

1) Open Start-run, enter Regedit.exe

2) Select "Key_local_machine \ SYSTEM \ currentcontrolset \ Services \ MSSQLServer

3) Create a new value named DependOnService with type REG_MULTI_SZ. Enter the string rpcss as its setting.

4) Re-computer
