Today, SQL Server compact edition RC1 is released! A few days ago, I reported that SQL Server everywhere edition was renamed SQL Server compact edition. I didn't expect RC1 to meet you so quickly!
According to Steve Lasker's blog, RC1 is basically a release version. Next, the development team will provide support for more than 20 different languages for SQL Server compact edition. It will take about a few weeks, and then it will be the big day for SQL Server compact edition to be released (before the end of the year )!
SQL Server everywhere blog briefly introduces the new functions of SQL Server compact edition RC1. RC1 provides complete support for the clickonce and | datadirectory | replacement string (substitution string) features. When SQL Server everywhere CTP is used, additional files must be used to support clickonce, while | datadirectory | replacement strings are only supported by sqlceconnection objects. objects such as sqlceengine, sqlcereplication, and sqlceremotedateaccess are not supported yet.
In addition, SQL Server compact edition tools for Visual Studio 2005 SP1 beta allows Visual Studio 2005 to support the UI, dialog box, device cab file, and clickonce for SQL Server compact edition design. Visual Studio 2005 SP1 beta needs to be installed first. Unfortunately, as far as I know, Visual Studio 2005 in the Chinese version does not support Visual Studio 2005 SP1 beta.
Anyway, we finally waited for a stable version, so we can safely play its role in projects and products!
