When you install SQL Server, you are prompted to suspend the solution:
1. Open the registry in the system disk
2. At HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Session Manager
Delete PendingFileRenameOperations
At HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Delete PendingFileRenameOperations
3. Close registry Reinstall SQL Server 2000
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager should have a snapshot of the current system session. While PendingFileRenameOperations records an unsuccessful file name change operation, SQL Server2000 may use this key value during installation to record operations on temporary files during installation, if SQL Server2000 that the key value exists when the installation process is started, it considers that the previous installer did not complete, thereby refusing to continue its own installation process.
