Teach you how to configure a single Linux virtual machine

Preparation: One computer (Windows), virtual machine software vmware Workstation pro, linux distribution version CentOS-6.8, living one

Before we begin the formal operation, we should first clarify the installation ideas, of course, this idea needs to have a certain basic knowledge of the computer. But don't worry, the computer knowledge used is not very difficult, if difficult, I will not.

installation process (the software that runs the virtual machine is installed by default):

The first step: Setting the Boot media (media) through the BIOS

Usually before we install a system, we get the computer is a bare metal, it is no system software. But we need a system software to start the computer, not on the hard drive, so we're going to create a system software for it. In what way? You can use the CD-ROM, and there will be a legend later.

Step two: Some simple settings for language, time, device, etc.

This step is still a good understanding, followed by a map will be described in detail.

Step Three: Select the installation type (disk partitioning method)

Because we are not familiar with Linux, it is recommended to use a custom installation to familiarize yourself with the Linux disk partitioning method, and if you choose Auto partitioning Then there is nothing to play.

  Fourth Step: Select Install software

This step for the people who learn Linux or choose Desktop, if the first time to install and learn Linux minimal should be very painful.

Fifth step: First setup after installation

After the installation will be a few similar to the registration information settings, no difficulty, the following legend will see

OK, clear the installation of ideas after you can enter the actual operation.

Actual procedure:

1. Open the virtual machine software to create a new virtual machine, after setting

2. Click the CD/DVD (IDE) to place the ISO image file in the CentOS-6.8 location of your local disk. This step can be understood as an external import of a Linux operating system, and now our job is to copy it to the hard disk,

3. Start the virtual machine and press F2 to enter the boot media settings.

4. Enter the boot media settings, now the boot media sequence is, mobile hard disk > local hard drive >CD/DVD> network boot, we need to set the CD/DVD as the preferred boot media,

5. Press the + number key to refer the CD to the first position, set to CD/DVD preferred boot, press F10 to save the exit,

6. Select the first option to start the installation system (other options you can study it yourself),

7. Whether to test the media, select Skip Skip,

8. Select Next,

9. Select the language in the installation process, this should be in English, but I forgot and then returned so is the Chinese display,

10. Choose US English style,

11. Select the basic storage device, click Next,

12. Because we are using the virtual machine installation, the disk is brand new so it will prompt you whether to format, if the disk is not new will not prompt, choose Format,

13. Set the name of the machine,

14. Set the time zone,

15. Set the Super admin root password (very important, please don't forget, unless you want to be expelled by your boss),

16. Choose a custom layout, as it will involve disk partitioning, which is an important step in our understanding of Linux

17. Click Create Start partition, we choose standard Partition, other options can come down to their own understanding,

18. We first set the root directory/, it needs a larger capacity, we choose 10G, file system type We choose EXT4, there are other system file types to know for yourself,

19. Next we create the boot directory, which contains files related to system startup (the system will automatically change it to primary partition),

20. Set up the/home directory (which contains the user's house directory),

21. Finally create the swap partition, it is the role of sharing memory pressure,

22. Finally all the partitions,

23. Select Format,

24. Select write modification to disk,

25. Select Install boot loader in the program, click Next,

26. For Beginners Learning Linux, choosing the graphical interface is best for desktop,

27. Wait for the software to install,

28. When the installation is complete, go to the Function Settings boot section,

29. Go ahead,

30. Click Yes,

31. Here can not set the user, can also be set (because we have root can login, right, new users can log on after the creation),

32. Manually set the time (do not understand why manual is required),

33.Kdump is when the core error occurs when the information is written to the file, but we are not the core developer, and it occupies too much hard disk space, so we do not need it,

34. The default is not required Kdump, click Finish,

35. This is installed, you can log in with root,

36. If you are running with root, please pay attention to your operation, its permissions are too large.

Done, it is relatively simple!
