If you're looking for a convenient way to mount your Google Drive folder on a Linux machine, Jack Wallen will teach you how to use Google-drive-ocamlfuse to mount Google Drive. Google has not yet released a Linux version of the Google Drive app, although there are many ways to access your drive file from Linux now.

If you like the interface tool, you can choose Insync. If you like to use the command line, there are a lot of tools like Grive2, as well as easier-to-use FUSE-based file systems written in Ocaml language. I'll show you how to mount your Google drive on your Linux desktop in the way that follows. Although this is done through the command line, it's easy to use to surprise you. It's too simple for anyone to do.

Features of this system:

    • Full read and write access to normal files/folders
    • For Google Docs, sheets, slides, these three apps are read-only
    • Ability to access the drive Recycle Bin (. Trash)
    • Handling Duplicate file functions
    • Support multiple accounts

Let's finish the installation of Google-drive-ocamlfuse on Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop, then you will be able to access the files on the cloud disk.

installation
    1. Open the terminal.
    2. Add the necessary PPA with the command
      sudo add-apt-repository Ppa:alessandro-strada/ppa
    3. When prompted, enter your root password and press ENTER.
    4. Update an app with a command
      sudo apt-get update
    5. Installing software with commands
      sudo apt-get install Google-drive-ocamlfuse
Authorized

The next step is to authorize google-drive-ocamlfuse to have access to your Google account. Go back to the terminal window and hit the command google-drive-ocamlfuse, this command will open a browser window, it will prompt you to login to your Google Account or if you have already logged into Google account, it will ask whether to allow Google-drive-ocamlfuse Access your Google account. If you are not logged in, log in first and click "Allow". The next window (which appears on the Ubuntu 16.04 desktop but does not appear on the elementary OS Freya Desktop) will ask you to grant Gdfuse and OAuth2 Endpoint access to your Google account and click "Allow" again. The window that appears will tell you to wait for the authorization token to be downloaded so that you can minimize the browser. When your terminal prompts for the same content, you will know that the token has been downloaded and you can already mount Google drive.

The app has been authorized and you can do the work behind it.

Mount Google Drive

Before you mount Google Drive, you'll need to create a folder as a mount point. In the terminal, knock down the mkdir ~/google-drive command to create a new folder in your home directory. Finally, hit the command google-drive-ocamlfuse ~/google-drive to mount your Google drive to the Google-drive folder.

You can then view the Google Drive files/folders contained in the local google-drive folder. You can work with Google drive as a local file system.

When you want to uninstall the Google-drive folder, enter the command

Fusermount-u ~/google-drive
There is no GUI, but it is very useful

I found this particular system very easy to use and surprisingly fast when syncing Google Drive, and this can be a smart way to back up your Google Drive account locally. LCTT: But first you have to be able to use ... )
Try Google-drive-ocamlfuse and see what interesting things you can do with it.
