According to foreign media reports, Oracle's acquisition of sun at a price of $7 billion today received EU unconditional approval.
This transaction will change the landscape of the technology industry, which means Oracle, the world's second-largest commercial software provider, has entered the hardware industry. Sun is a leader in the market in the high-end computer server market with a scale of more than $17 billion.
In last December, Oracle made a number of commitments, including the openness of the MySQL open-source database after Sun's acquisition. In the next three years, more funds will be invested in the development of MySQL databases, create a customer consulting team for mysql users.
The EU began an in-depth investigation into the effect in May last September. The main concern of the EU is that Oracle's acquisition of sun will adversely affect the competition in the MySQL market.
After approving the deal, Neelie Kroes, the European Commission's anti-monopoly Commissioner, said in a statement: "After Oracle's acquisition of sun, competition and innovation in the market will not be affected, I am satisfied with this. This transaction can activate some important assets and create new and innovative products ."
The European Union said that Oracle's commitment was taken into account when making this decision, and Oracle has taken measures to implement some of the commitments.
In May last August, Oracle's acquisition of sun was approved by the U.S. Department of Justice. Regulators in China and Russia have not yet approved the deal.
