Foursquare launches Radar for iOS 5 Users
According to foreign media reports, the location-based social media service Foursquare released the 4.0 mobile app on Wednesday and launched a new feature, Radar, to help iOS5 users understand the surrounding situation. This application can be used to find nearby locations or related merchants and organizations and send notifications to users.
The new Service also allows users to know when a group of friends may meet with nearby users. Foursquare said in his blog: "This application can even work on its own without opening it. We call it Foursquare Radar because it can discover nearby situations that you generally don't know ".
Adding the Radar feature to Foursquare may not be a breakthrough, but it is still a significant improvement. Since its establishment, Foursquare has been focusing on User Sharing locations and what they do. The Radar application now provides users with available data to help them find areas they might be interested in.
Foursquare has been very active recently. This summer, the company partnered with LivingSocial and AT&T to launch group buying services to help users shop around their locations. To prove that the selected transaction is meaningful, Foursquare also tells users why the transaction suits them.
To make full use of Foursquare's latest features, users must download the 4.0 version of the app on iOS 5 iPhone. Foursquare 4.0 has been launched at the Apple App Store.
