TIPS: Ubuntu is connected to an HDMI display/TV without sound solution
The laptop display was accidentally damaged last night. Now I use an HDMI cable to connect my Ubuntu laptop to a home TV for temporary use.
Ubuntu is the official version of the latest version 17.10. HDMI interface display. The connection mode is to connect the computer host to the monitor, and the display audio port to the audio. The main performance is: the sound is connected to the computer audio port, and the display audio port has no sound.
However, by default, the HDMI device (my TV) has no sound output. So the quick tutorial here shows you how to solve the problem.
1. Press Ctrl + Alt + T or search for "terminal" from the application initiator to open the terminal. When it is opened, run the following command:
Alsamixer
Then you will see something similar in the image below:
- Here you need to ensure that S/PDIF, S/PDIF 1, S/PDIF 2 are not muted.
- Right-click a project from the left-side navigation pane.
- Mute by M/cancel (00 indicates cancel mute)
Press the F3 display to display the Ubuntu background desktop and F4 to display the current desktop.
2. If the sound card is not muted through the sound card mix, enable "system settings" and switch to "sound ":
Select the HDMI device as the audio output and cancel the mute output volume.
