Tivoli Directory Server v6.3 installation record in Linux environment Step 3: Create TDS instance

The IBM Tivoli Directoy Server is a complete implementation of the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (lightweight directories access PROTOCOL,LDAP), powerful, stable and reliable, and is the foundation rock for building enterprise portals;

This series of articles to explain the TDs installation related knowledge;

Environment Description:

Hardware environment: Lenovo E440, i7, 12GB, 500GB;

Virtual Appliance: VMWare WorkStation + RHEL5.6 X64;

Install Product: IBM Tivoli Directory Server v6.3; First, start TDS instance management tool

TDS Instance management tool opens automatically when TDS installation is complete (IBM Tivoli Directory Server Instance Administration tool);

Manually open the TDS Instance Management tool command as follows:

Cd/opt/ibm/ldap/v6. 3/sbin. /idsxinst

The instance management interface is as follows:

Ii. creating an instance of TDS

1. Click the "Create an Instance ..." button in the right tool button of the TDS Instance management tool to launch the TDS instance process;

2. Select "Create a new directory server instance" in the "Creating or migrating" selection interface;

Click "Next" button to enter the following interface;

3, in the "Instance details" interface to configure the TDS instance user name, instance directory and encryption seeds and other information;

Username	Idsldap	TDS instance construction requires a real operating system account, which is automatically created when TDS is installed; Select the existing account Idsldap in the drop-down list;
Instance Location	/home/idsldap	TDS Instance installation directory Click the Browse button on the right to select the directory;
Encryption seed String		Encrypted seed string, at least 12 bits;
Comfirm Encryption Seed
Use encryption Salt value	Keep the default (UN-tick)

Click "Next" button to enter the following interface;

4. Configure the DB2 DB instance name associated with the TDS instance in the "DB2 instance details" Setup interface;

It is important to note that:

1. The DB2 instance name selected or entered cannot be a database instance that has been associated with another TDs instance;

2, DB2 instance name must be consistent with the account created by the operating system;

Click "Next" button to enter the following interface;

5, set the "TCP/IP Port";
