Tomcat's JSP Engine and tomcat JSP Engine
The jasper component of tomcat must be used to parse jsp files into class files.
Jasper is the JSP Engine Used in tomcat, and Jasper 2 is used in Tomcat 6. Compared with the original version, Jasper has made many improvements, such: JSP Tag Buffer Pool, background compilation, automatic re-compilation during page change, JDT compilation in Eclipse, and so on.
Simply put, it is to parse JSP files not recognized by JVM into java files and compile them into class files for use. Currently, there are many JSP parsing engines, and Jasper is used in Tomcat.
In Tomcat, you can configure the Jasper option by configuring the content in CATALINA_HOME/conf/web. xml (the content in web. xml is very long and part of it is truncated ):
