For some reason, we may need to reinstall the system. Generally, the downloaded ISO image file is installed, so there will be a lot of updates.
For a system that has just been installed, we will always be prompted to download updates. Although hundreds of M of updates are not very large, if the network speed is not good (for example, I used six or seven hours to download updates), the updates will be downloaded online each time, it takes a lot of time.
Back up data directly.
Generally, system update files are stored in/var/Cache/APT/archives/, and many. Deb files are contained. Therefore, you only need to back up the downloaded update files to your other disks (such as a USB flash drive or a dual system ), when re-installing the system, you only need to copy the backup files and will not download them again.
Compressing and backing up Files: CD/var/Cache/APT/archives/
Tar-zcvf linux-update-backup.tar.gz *. Deb
Then save the backup file linux-update-backup.tar.gz.
After the system is reinstalled next time, copy the backup file to the corresponding directory/var/Cache/APT/archives,
Unzip tar-zxvf linux-update-backup.tar.gz
Then, update
Apt-Get update.
By the way, it is best to put the/home directory in a separate partition when installing the Linux system, so that the previous/home partition should not be overwritten during system reinstallation, after installing the system, re-mount the/home partition to retrieve your previous configurations.
