A brief and pleasant update: Firefox will continue to be used as the default Web browser in Ubuntu11.10. There were meetings discussing the possibility of replacing Firefox with Chromium. It has been confirmed that Firefox will continue as the default browser. This is not a big surprise. Although Chromium recently added Ubuntu's specific support-Global menus, Unity starter support, and so on-Firefox is still the world's most popular open-source browser. Since its launch, firefox has always been its default browser.
