Reset Compiz, open the terminal, and enter the following command:
Dconf reset-f/org/compiz/
Okay. Restart Unity:
Setsid unity
In addition, if you want to re-use the default unity starter icon, run the following command:
Unity -- reset-icons
Now, log out and log on again to see the changes.
