Upgrade Ubuntu/Kubuntu or install the latest KDE Plasma 5.12.0
KDE Plasma 5.12 is a new long-term support version. The following describes how to use PPA in KUbuntu 17.10/17.04/16.04, install and upgrade the latest version of Plasma 5.12.0 in Ubuntu 17.10 Artful/17.04 Zesty/16.04 Xenial.

KDE Plasma 5.12.0 released to provide Wayland Integration

On the Kubuntu 17.10 Artful/17.04 Zesty/16.04 Xenial terminal, upgrade the terminal to the latest KDE Plasma 5.x desktop, and copy the following command in the terminal:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: kubuntu-ppa/backports
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Install the latest KDE Plasma in Ubuntu 17.10. x Desktop Artful/17.04 Zesty/16.04 Xenial/Linux Mint 18 open the terminal (Press Ctrl + Alt + T) and copy the following command in the terminal:
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa: kubuntu-ppa/backports
Sudo apt-get update
Sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop

How to uninstall:
To undo the change and restore it to the Plasma inventory version in the main Ubuntu repository, run the following command to clear the PPA:
Sudo apt install ppa-purge & sudo ppa-purge ppa: kubuntu-ppa/backports
