Use the built-in functions to allow XP to obtain Vista security functions

Microsoft regards the user account interface (UAC) as one of the most significant new security features. Microsoft's UAC is a security model that has been used for a long time in Linux and Unix-based Mac OS X, it requires users to perform operations such as software installation tasks that require administrator permissions, while others also give users lower permissions.

So why should we use it? This aims to keep users away from hacker intrusion. If an attacker uses an unfixed bug to attack the browser, the attacker will gain the user's permission. Hackers can install software as well. What will happen? Hackers will "own" your computer and implant some Trojans or worms on it, as well as some concealed spyware.

Many Windows users have been running Windows as administrators, because Microsoft has never made too many differences between administrators and non-administrators. In fact, it is more difficult to work if you have lower permissions.

In the face of ever-increasing and mysterious attacks. But why wait for it? Take a look at the two methods described below, you can make your Windows XP, set to a later version of Windows, can get a protection like UAC.

Method 1: users with limited Permissions

At a glance, you may find it ridiculous to set up an account with non-administrator permissions in Windows. At this time, you may want to know, vista and Its UAC will have nothing to worry about.

Yes, you can easily set a low-permission account in the user account on the control panel through several clicks. Here, when you click "Create a new account" and give this account a name, set it to "restricted" Before creation ".

After this operation is completed, it is like working with a restricted account in XP. When you install Windows XP completely or use a new computer, if you use the first account system to work for a while, you will find that your previous practice is a nightmare.

You will not be able to access the documents you previously stored in my documents because the folder is now locked under the administrator account. Some programs you have installed will also disappear mysteriously. In this case, the entire operating system is like a version that takes a long time to be customized. For example, in Firefox, its plug-in will disappear and Word will be restored to its standard configuration. It takes several hours to recreate these settings when you run XP as an administrator.

Not to mention some other applications that you will not be able to install unless you are under the administrator account. Or they can be installed, but they will not run if they do not have administrator permissions. To avoid this situation, you can only right-click the installation file, choose to run as an administrator, and enter the password. However, this is not a valid method.

Note: There is no way to do this, because this method is too troublesome.

Method 2: Use "running mode"

In Windows XP, there is a command named "running mode", which allows you to temporarily use other accounts to run applications. It is usually used when a restricted account needs to temporarily use administrator permissions, for example, when installing a program.

You can regard these things as protection functions provided by UAC in Vista.

The idea is to use it when you run the most vulnerable application-browser and email, even if the worst case happens when you are a restricted user, malicious Software attacks your application, and it cannot bring its evil behavior to the extreme.

To make this method take effect, you can run your browser and email client as restricted users when other programs are running as administrators. In this way, you can reduce many problems arising when installing or opening the program, keep the current settings for the application, and set the date file path.

For example, right-click the IE shortcut on the desktop and select "Run as" in Windows Explorer or the Quick Start Menu ". Enter or select a Restricted User Account in the following user, enter the password, and click "OK ".

You can automate this process so that you do not need to right-click each operation. Right-click the shortcut and select "properties", click the "shortcut" tab, and then click the "advanced" button. Check "Run as another user" and click "OK ". From now on, when you open a program through this shortcut, you will first see an account dialog box. Once again, you can choose to run as an administrator or as another account. Here, we are talking about the need to select a restricted account.

Note: It is inconvenient to use because it requires a restricted account.
