VirtualBox makes copying and pasting unavailable in Linux desktop environments
One of the two 9020 wks runs the Linux 3.11 + GNOME 3.4 + Compiz desktop environment. Because it is used for work, it is usually not difficult to solve the problem of stability, the last restart was three months ago.
It was found that the copy & paste was suddenly unavailable after Chrome was upgraded to 35.0.1916.153 yesterday. It was originally thought that it was a Chrome problem. After testing, I found that all kinds of applications in the desktop environment could not be copied or pasted, So that I realized that the problem was big and might have to be restarted.
Before deciding to restart, I carefully recalled the recent clipboard-related changes and found that the problem was fixed after the most likely cause rollback change.
The culprit was to enable Shared Clipboard-Bidirectional (two-way Shared Clipboard) for the Windows XP VirtualBox virtual machine used for dirty work, and forget to disable it after use!
Inspired by this: Remember to follow the simplest Fault Diagnosis principles when analyzing problems. Before you start, especially before restarting the root cause action, which is not conducive to fault diagnosis and analysis, you should think twice.
