Agent

An HTTP intermediate entity located between the client and the server

Cache

HTTP repositories, so that copies of common pages can be saved closer to the client

Gateway

A special Web server that connects other applications, typically used to convert HTTP traffic to other protocol traffic

Tunnel

A special agent for blind forwarding of HTTP communication messages

The difference between proxy and gateway:

The agent is the intermediate substance that connects the two identical protocol endpoints, and the gateway is the intermediate converter that connects the different protocols, the tunnel is a special agent, the tunnel may appear blind relay because the Connection:keep-alive header field is not recognized correctly.
