Windows-Free Oracle Client PLSQL configuration

1. Download the Oracle Client package.

Download from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/winsoft.html

Instant Client Package–basic Package (callout: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and jdbc-oci applications) Download Version 11.1 here .0.7

2. Save the Oracle Client package locally:

Create folders, such as Oracle_client, to compress the downloaded files into this folder. (Author directory: D:\oracle_client\instantclient_10_2)

3. in the current directory , Create two new files,sqlnet.ora and Tnsnames.ora , and then manually configuring Sqlnet.ora and Tnsnames.ora

For example, here are:

Sqlnet.ora File Contents  :

Sqlnet. Authentication_services= (NTS)

NAMES. Directory_path= (TNSNames, Ezconnect)

Tnsnames.ora File Contents ( italic indicates what needs to be replaced ):

ORCL =

(DESCRIPTION =

(Address_list =

(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = 192.168.1.103 ) (PORT = 1521))

)

(Connect_data =

(service_name = ORCL )

)

)

4. Configure environment Variables

Variable name: oracle_home

Variable Value: D:\oracle_client\instantclient_10_2

Otherwise appears: Ora-12154:tns:could not resolve the connect identifier specified error

If you have previously installed Oracle and uninstalled, you will be left with the Nls_lang=na key value. Enter regedit to open the registry hkey_local_machine/software/oracle. Find Nls_lang=na on the right and delete it.

Otherwise it will be reported ora-12705:cannot access NLS data files or invalid error.

5. Install PL/SQL software ( process slightly )

6. Configure the Oracle Connection Parameters for PL /sql:

Select the connection in the PL/SQL Tools/Preferences (too/preference/) and set the Oracle home directory name (i.e. the installation directory) and the OCI library on the right.

Oracle Home directory Name: D:\oracle_client\instantclient_10_2

OCI Library: D:\oracle_client\instantclient_10_2\oci.dll

7. landed PL/SQL test succeeded
