According to foreign media reports, Microsoft will use the mobile version of Internet Explorer 7 in the Windows Phone 7 operating system software. Devices that configure the software will be available later this year.
According to Joe Belfiore, vice president of Microsoft Department, at the MIX 2010 Conference, the mobile browser is not named yet and is a version between IE 7 and IE 8. He explained that the mobile browser used HTML Rendering code in IE 7. These codes are optimized for low memory usage. Belfiore said that some features were transplanted from IE 8. He joked that Microsoft will eventually name the mobile Browser IE 7.5.
Currently, browsers in Windows Phone 7 recognize themselves as the following user proxy strings: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows Phone OS 7.0; Trident/3.1; IEMobile/7.0 ). On the other hand, Microsoft's Zune HD device uses IE6: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible with; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 6.12; Microsoft ZuneHD 4.3 ).
