Chapter III Disk class failures
An example of a definition
This refers to the disk class failure represents two aspects: first, the hard disk, optical drive, floppy disk drive and its media, and other causes of the failure; the other is the impact on the hard disk, optical drive, floppy disk access to the parts (such as motherboard, memory, etc.) caused by the failure.
Second, possible phenomenon of failure
1. Hard Drive
1 The hard disk has abnormal sound, the noise is big;
2 The BIOS can not correctly identify the hard drive, hard drive indicator illuminated steady or not bright, hard drive interference with other drives work;
3) can not partition or format, hard disk capacity is incorrect, hard drive has bad, data loss, etc.
4 The logical drive letter is missing or changed, access to the hard drive times is wrong;
5 The hard disk data protection failure;
6 The third party software causes the hard disk failure;
7 The hard disk protection card caused the fault.
2. Floppy disk drive
1 The floppy drive LED is not bright or illuminated steady, floppy disk read a large sound;
2 floppy disk, floppy disk can not eject or insert, etc.;
3 floppy disk can not be formatted, floppy drive does not read disk, floppy drive interference with other drives or equipment or applications of the normal work, etc.
4 the file written in a floppy drive cannot be read in another floppy drive;
5 Floppy drive letter is missing or changed, access to the floppy drive times is wrong;
6 The floppy drive installation is not in place.
3. Optical drive
1 Optical drive noise, CD-ROM disk, CD-ROM tray can not be ejected or closed, CD-ROM ability to read disk;
2 The optical drive letter is missing or changed, the system does not detect the optical drive, etc.
3) access to the optical drive when the crash or error;
4 CD-ROM media causes the optical drive to not work properly.
Iii. parts that may be involved
Hard drives, optical drives, floppy drives, and their settings, disk connectors, power supplies, signal cables on the motherboard.
